Contemporary Aboriginal Art
My name is Chern'ee Sutton, I am 16 years old and I am a contemporary Indigenous artist with family links to the Kalkadoon people from the Mt.Isa area in Queensland, Australia.
I started painting when I was 13 years old and I paint mostly on canvas using acrylic and raised acrylic paints. I am very passionate about my families' culture and history and wish to share this with the rest of the world.
I have 2 paintings hanging in Queensland’s Parliament House, one hanging in Queensland’s State Library, a painting hanging in the Minister for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander and Multicultural Affairs office and a painting hanging in the Deputy Prime Minister and Treasurers office and have worked with several Government Departments across Queensland.
I believe we are all created equal and should all be treated with the same respect that we wish for ourselves and families.
I love the feeling I get when I donate and can help those in need and I also think “Just imagine our world if everyone gave a little something”.
