Gather Together – Ngukuthati

My name is Brooke Sutton and I am a contemporary Indigenous artist from the Kalkadoon people from the Mount Isa area in Queensland. This is my interpretation of “Ngukuthati” which means in the Kalkadoon language “Gather Together.”

For countless generations, my people have gathered on Country, meeting at special places to share stories, celebrate culture, and strengthen connections between families, communities, and generations.

In this painting, the footprints represent people from all walks of life making their journey across the land to come together. It is a reflection of the gatherings that continue today when we travel to be with loved ones, to celebrate milestones, and to share time and connection with one another.

Ngukuthati is a tribute to the importance of families and community and the powerful spirit of togetherness, past, present and future.

Can be hung portrait or landscape, your choice.
