Elemental

Fire - Utjan

My name is Chern’ee Sutton and I am a contemporary Indigenous artist from the Kalkadoon people from the Mount Isa area in Queensland. This painting is my interpretation of “Utjan” which means “Fire” in the Kalkadoon language.

In this elemental series of paintings, I have explored the battling elemental forces with the use of the bright vivid colours that have painted our landscape since the beginning of time.
