Mother Bee - Martu Ulhu

My name is Brooke Sutton and I am a contemporary Indigenous artist from the Kalkadoon people from the Mount Isa area in Queensland.

This painting is called “Martu Ulhu” which means “Mother of Bee’s” in the Kalkadoon language and this painting tells the story of how the first bee’s came to Kalkadoon country and have provided a source of food for the Kalkadoon people for thousands upon thousands of years.
