To Chase or To Hunt - Ngaimai

My name is Chern’ee Sutton and I am a contemporary indigenous artist from the Kalkadoon people around the Mount Isa area in Queensland.

This painting is called “Ngaimai” which means “To Chase or To Hunt” in the Kalkadoon language.

The Kalkadoon people have ruled the emu foot province for at least the last 40,000 years and have been connected to their lands through their dreaming stories, songs and art. The many campsites and footprints show the Kalkadoon peoples journey hunting and gathering food.
