Gather Together – Ngukuthati
My name is Chern’ee Sutton and I am a contemporary Indigenous artist from the Kalkadoon people from the Mount Isa area in Queensland. This is my interpretation of “Ngukuthati” which means in the Kalkadoon language “Gather Together.”
For generation upon generation dating back thousands and thousands of years my people have gathered together at special meeting places throughout the year.
In my painting the footprints represent the many people from all walks of life that travel from their communities and homes to gather together and visit family and friends and spend time together to celebrate.
