My name is Chern’ee Sutton and I am a contemporary Indigenous artist from the Kalkadoon people from the Mount Isa area in Queensland. This painting is my interpretation of kurityityin which means The Magpie Lark in the Kalkadoon language. Kurityityin is an important part of Kalkdoon culture, as one of the creator beings he helped to start life on earth.
